The OChE is a chamber orchestra founded in 2013 and constituted of students, PhDs and postdocs from EPFL and UNIL, as well as other universities in Switzerland. A particularity of the orchestra is the absence of a conductor. This feature enhances the listening between the musicians, which results in an improved homogeneity and cohesion of the sound.
The orchestra regularly offers concerts, especially for the Lausanne campus community but also for the external public. Its repertoire goes from Baroque to contemporary compositions, not to mention movie and popular music. Recently, the orchestra performed the 1st symphony by Beethoven and the Peer Gynt Suites by Grieg.
